Fall 2012

Don't you wish that someone who really knows scripture would write an easy-to-read summary explaining the basics of what the Bible is all about?  You know, the big picture.  And that they could figure out a way to make all that important information easy to remember?  Maye using illustrations--even simple stick figures--to help?  And, as long as we're wishing, that they could make it fun to read?  After all, shouldn't Good News put a smile on your face?

Well, you're in luck.

Bible Basics for Catholics: A New Picture of Salvation History by John Bergsma does all that.  Dr. Bergsma, Associate Professor of Theology at the Franciscan University of Steubenville in Steubenville, Ohio, has a gift for taking something as complex as our salvation history and making it easier to understand, easier to retain, and a joy to learn.

Dr. Bergsma begins in the Garden of Eden and takes his readers through Revelation looking at the covenants that God has made with Man from the beginning of Creation.  He shows how this great story is entirely connected and how it is ultimately fulfilled and perfected in Jesus Christ--the last and eternal covenant.

Bible Basics for Catholics is a terrific book for Catholics of all ages and all levels of Bible literacy.  It's a book that you can read as a family  It's a book that will enhance your appreciation for the Liturgy of the Word at Mass.  And it's a book for both those who are just starting out on a journey of Bible study or have been on that journey for years.

A highly recommended addition to your Catholic home library!

Bible Basics for Catholics will be available at St. Patrick's Book & Gift from September 1 until November 30 at 20% off the regular retail price.
